Luminary Lantern - Candace Wheeler Bees with Honeycomb
Luminary Lantern - Candace Wheeler Bees with Honeycomb
Luminary Lanterns set the mood in any space with the addition of water and water-activated, floating LED candles. These durable, plastic luminaries are suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Candace Wheeler (New York, 1827-1923) was the first woman to work professionally in the decorative arts in the US. An early feminist, she promoted careers in the arts for women and equality in the workplace. Wheeler founded the Society of Domestic Arts, which empowered women to turn domestic arts into financial independence. Her success led to a partnership with Tiffany in a textile firm producing home décor. Our luminary was inspired by Wheeler’s Bees with Honeycomb, designed in 1881 for Mark Twain’s Connecticut home.
