In 1875 Camille Saint-Saëns composed the Danse Macabre symphony, based upon a French legend of skeletons rising on Halloween for a graveyard dance party. Similarly, Disney created an animated short called The Skeleton Dance in 1929. In it, skeletons dance and play instruments made from their own bones.
